Nursing Home Hot-Dip Galvanized Underground Water Tank Project
Nursing home project using a hot-dip galvanized underground tank for drinking, domestic, cleaning, laundry, and fire water.
Recently, we customized and installed a hot-dip galvanized modular underground water tank for a nursing home to meet its water storage requirements for daily living, resident care, and emergency firefighting.
Compared with ordinary residential or commercial buildings, nursing homes have more complex water usage requirements. In addition to drinking water and restaurant water supply, water is also needed for resident care, sanitation and cleaning, laundry, and common areas. Nursing homes typically accommodate a relatively large number of residents, making water supply continuity, safety, and reliability particularly important. Therefore, the selection of the water tank and the design of the water supply system need to take into account different requirements for domestic water, drinking water, and emergency firefighting.
Comprehensive Water Usage Requirements
Based on the nursing home’s actual water usage, we customized the water tank and supporting water supply system to accommodate multiple applications.
The stored water is mainly used for:
- Restaurant Water Supply: Meeting the daily water requirements of the kitchen and restaurant.
- Resident Care: Providing water for daily care and related living needs.
- Sanitation and Cleaning: Supplying water for restrooms, common areas, and facility cleaning.
- Laundry: Providing water for washing clothes, bedding, and other daily laundry needs.
- Emergency Firefighting: Providing the necessary water storage for firefighting in the event of a fire or other emergency.
To meet drinking water safety requirements, the project is also equipped with a drinking water purification system to further treat the water supplied to the drinking water system and help ensure safe and suitable drinking water for residents and staff.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Underground Water Tank Solution
Considering the nursing home’s water requirements and available space, we adopted a solution combining a hot-dip galvanized modular water tank with underground installation.
The tank is manufactured from hot-dip galvanized steel panels. The galvanized coating provides good corrosion resistance and structural strength, making the tank suitable for long-term water storage applications. Its modular construction allows the tank to be flexibly assembled according to the required capacity and available site space, making it suitable for projects with different dimensions and installation conditions.
Compared with an above-ground water tank, an underground tank places the main tank structure below ground, reducing the amount of above-ground space occupied and minimizing its impact on the nursing home’s buildings and activity areas. Underground installation also allows the tank to better integrate with the surrounding environment, making this solution particularly suitable for nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and other public buildings where available space is limited.
Supporting Water Supply System
To ensure stable water supply to different areas of the nursing home, the project was equipped with appropriate water pumps and a water supply system according to the actual requirements. As an important part of the overall water storage system, the tank provides a reliable water reserve for restaurant, resident care, cleaning, and laundry applications.
For drinking water applications, a purification system is provided to further improve water quality. For firefighting, the system is equipped with or reserves the necessary firefighting water supply connections according to the project requirements, allowing the overall water storage system to serve the nursing home’s different water usage scenarios.
By integrating water storage, water purification, and water supply, the solution helps simplify the connection between different water systems while also facilitating future operation and maintenance.
A Typical Case of a Multi-Purpose Water Storage Solution
A nursing home is a typical type of high-occupancy public facility, and its diverse water requirements are representative of many similar projects. For this reason, we are sharing this project as a typical application of a hot-dip galvanized underground modular water tank.
Based on the facility’s actual water usage scenarios, we comprehensively configured the tank capacity, material, inlet and outlet connections, water supply equipment, and purification system to meet its various water storage and supply requirements.
In addition to nursing homes, hot-dip galvanized underground water tanks can also be used in hospitals, schools, dormitories, hotels, public buildings, and other projects where available space is limited and reliable water storage and supply are required.
Faq
It can be used for restaurant water supply, resident care, sanitation and cleaning, laundry, and emergency firefighting water storage. If the tank is intended to supply drinking water, a suitable drinking water purification system can also be provided.
The tank is made of hot-dip galvanized steel panels, and the galvanized coating provides good corrosion protection and durability for long-term water storage. The actual service life also depends on soil conditions, corrosion protection measures, installation quality, and regular maintenance.
Yes. The system can be designed according to the project’s specific requirements, with water storage, purification, and water supply systems configured accordingly. However, whether drinking water and firefighting water can be stored in the same tank should be determined based on local regulations, applicable design standards, and specific project requirements.
