Stainless Steel Water Tank Project for a Large Food Processing Factory
A 30×7×3 m 304 stainless steel Water tank was installed for a large food processing factory in Southeast Asia, with on-site welding.
Recently, we customized a 30 × 7 × 3 m large modular stainless steel water tank for a large food processing factory in Southeast Asia. The tank is mainly used to store water for food processing and domestic water.
Due to the specific requirements of the food processing industry, the customer had higher requirements for the hygiene, corrosion resistance, and long-term reliability of the water storage system. Therefore, the customer selected food-grade 304 stainless steel panels for the tank, and we provided on-site installation and welding services.
Why Choose a 304 Stainless Steel Water Tank?
For food processing factories, a water storage tank needs to meet not only the basic requirements for large-capacity water storage and durability, but also higher requirements for water hygiene, material corrosion resistance, cleaning, and maintenance.
In this project, the stored water is used not only for domestic purposes within the factory but also for food processing. Therefore, the customer had higher requirements for the tank material.
Food-grade 304 stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance and a smooth, easy-to-clean surface, making it suitable for water storage applications where high hygiene standards are required. Compared with conventional carbon steel, 304 stainless steel is better suited to the long-term water storage environment of food processing facilities.
Tank Installation Location Design
In addition to selecting the tank material, we also considered the customer’s factory layout, tank installation location, and water supply routes. The tank was therefore installed inside the factory building.
Southeast Asia generally has a hot and humid climate. Indoor installation helps reduce the tank’s long-term exposure to humid air, rainfall, direct sunlight, and other external environmental factors, which can help protect the tank and related components while also making inspection and maintenance more convenient.

In terms of the factory layout, the tank was positioned between the production line and the living area. This arrangement helps shorten the water supply distance to the main water-use areas, reducing unnecessary piping and material consumption. It can also help reduce pressure losses along the pipelines and improve the overall efficiency of the water supply system.
By carefully selecting the tank installation location, the project could make better use of the available factory space while balancing tank protection, pipeline layout, and water supply efficiency.
Customized Modular Water Tank Solution
Based on the customer’s water storage requirements and site conditions, we customized a 30 × 7 × 3 m large modular stainless steel water tank.
The tank uses a modular panel design. The panels were manufactured and inspected at our factory before being transported to the project site, where they were assembled and welded according to the required tank dimensions.
This modular structure is particularly suitable for large-capacity water storage projects. It can reduce the difficulties associated with transporting and lifting a fully assembled tank while also allowing the tank dimensions and structure to be customized according to the customer’s site conditions.
Professional On-Site Installation
Due to the large size of the tank, we dispatched three professional installation workers to the project site for tank assembly and welding. The entire installation process was completed in 4 days.
After installation, we conducted an on-site water filling test to carefully inspect the tank body and welded joints for any leakage or other potential issues, ensuring that the installation quality met the project requirements.
Following the on-site test, the tank operated normally, and the project was successfully completed and delivered to the customer.
Faq
Food processing factories have higher requirements for the hygiene, corrosion resistance, and easy maintenance of water storage systems. Food-grade 304 stainless steel offers good corrosion resistance and a smooth, easy-to-clean surface, making it suitable for storing water for food processing and domestic use.
Installing the water tank inside the factory helps reduce long-term exposure to rain, sunlight, and humid air, while also minimizing potential safety risks caused by external interference. It also helps optimize the water supply pipeline layout between the production and living areas.
There are generally two methods for conducting a water-tightness test on a stainless steel water tank. One method is to fill the tank with water and inspect the tank body and welded joints for leakage. The other method is to apply kerosene to the external side of the welded joints and check the inside of the tank for any signs of leakage based on the permeability characteristics of kerosene.
